Abolition of the Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council (AJTC)

The Ombudsman Association has a strong belief in the value of independent oversight of administrative justice. We support the current role and functions of the AJTC and support its retention, even if in a revised form. We do not believe that oversight by the Ministry of Justice will be an appropriate or adequate substitute as it will not be able to provide independent scrutiny of administrative justice across all government departments.
